Manchester City – Paris Saint-Germain (Tuesday, May 4, 9 p.m.)

In a game that was notorious for being “the most expensive football game in history”, literal billions worth of football power competed for an edge in the return fixture. Both teams could be just 2 games away from their historic first Champions League title. Of course, only one of these giants will make it…

Despite a strong header by Marquinhos, the Parisians lost on their own turf after our very own Belgian hero De Bruyne became the first Citizen to score in a Champions League semi-final. A free kick goal by Mahrez sealed the deal for Manchester City last week: PSG 1, ManCity 2.

Now Mbappé, Neymar and their teammates travel to Manchester with a single-minded focus: win the game with lots of goals. They’ll come across a Manchester City that will defend its 1-2 lead come hell or high water. All the same, the Citizens are fully expected to make a statement with the final in mind…

We can look forward to goals on either side here: how about a wild 2-2 draw @14.00?

Chelsea – Real Madrid (Wednesday, May 5, 9 p.m.)

Compared to Tuesday’s fixture, a game like Wednesday evening’s Chelsea – Real Madrid almost seems mundane. There’s nothing farther from the truth, of course. With the first leg of this encounter ending in a 1-1 draw, both teams still have clear chances to go through. Chelsea even has a slight advantage.

It was Pulišić’s first-quarter goal that signalled a stunt in the making for the London outfit, considered the underdog remaining in the Champions League. Despite valiant football from Chelsea, though, Real Madrid’s Benzema scored an amazing equaliser – his 71st Champions League goal of his rich career.

If Chelsea is considered the underdog here, it has more to do with Real Madrid’s strong reputation. It can be argued, though, that Los Blancos have had their fair share of trouble in keeping the results on par with their reputation. How important will Pulišić’s away goal prove itself to be in this return game?
