Recently we talked about Antoine Griezmann, who was so severely disappointed with French national team coach Didier Deschamps' choice (to appoint Kylian Mbappé as captain of 'Les Bleus') that there is a possibility that he will kiss the national team goodbye. The new captain has since responded.

Kylian Mbappé is thus the new captain of the French team. This much to the dismay of Antoine Griezmann, who thinks he should have been given that title (which previously belonged to Hugo Lloris).
Mbappé understands his disappointed teammate, or so he said during his first press conference as head of players anyway. "I spoke to Antoine. He was disappointed and I can only find that understandable and normal. Were I to be him, I would have had the same reaction. He was perhaps the most important player under the reign of Didier Deschamps. But I will not be his superior," said the new captain, who plays, with Griezmann present in his squad, a Euro2024 qualifying match against the Netherlands today (24/3).
