Injuries plague Anderlecht. First there was the news that Yari Verschaeren will not be able to play until at least 2024, now it's Islam Slimani who's no longer in business.

Yari Verschaeren is seriously injured. The midfielder is struggling with a cruciate ligament tear and rehabilitation will take a long, very long time. But so there's even more bad news, as Islam Slimani, RSCA's 34-year-old Algerian striker, has also suffered a muscle tear, more specifically during the most recent league match against OH Leuven.
Bad timing? Absolutely. And not only for Anderlecht but also for Algeria's national team. After all, Slimani is part of their selection.
La Dernière Heure states that Slimani should remain on the bench for at least three weeks. If this turns out to be true, it means that the Brussels first division side will not be able to field him against AS Eupen. One hopes in any case that he will be in form for the first quarter-final of the Conference League on 13 April, the day Anderlecht face AZ Alkmaar.
