Match of the week: Juve – Inter & El Clásico

The Serie A and La Liga, two of the world’s toughest football competitions, have their absolute biggest games this weekend. In Italy, leader Juventus hosts its greatest rival Inter Milan, and in Spain, it’s time for El Clásico as Barcelona pays Real Madrid a visit. Both competitions are steadily nearing their end, so if any points need to be made to hold off contenders, now’s the time! Of course, this means that for our entertainment, there are all the more interesting betting options on Sunday… Let’s dive right in!

Juventus – Inter Milan (Sunday March 1, 8.45 p.m.)

Juventus, boosted by the inimitable Cristiano Ronaldo, seemed well on its way to another championship title. However, this season, its title hopes are threatened by a surprisingly performant SS Lazio, while Inter Milan welcomed Romelu Lukaku in order to try and secure the title. Juve leads by just a single point, with a total of 60 as opposed to Lazio’s 59. Inter Milan is hot on their tails, with 54 points so far.

While it’s impossible for Inter to move to a better position this weekend, it will do everything in its power to further close the gap with the numbers 1 and 2. Juve, of course, will find its motivation towards a victory in order to keep its top spot. Second-placed Lazio can technically take a temporary lead on the Turin giant, if it beats Atalanta on Saturday… Juve will know who to root for there!

Real Madrid – Barcelona (Sunday March 1, 9 p.m.)

Real Madrid and Barcelona are dominating La Liga in Spain. The two powerhouses sit in second and first place, with 53 point and 55 points respectively. In the distance, Atlético Madrid and Sevilla follow with 43 points. By now in the season, however, it seems unlikely for anyone but either Real or Barça to win the Spanish championship title this year. This edition of El Clásico could very well decide the season!

The loss of Eden Hazard due to injury will be a bitter pill to swallow for Real, and there’s no doubt that Barça will exploit the brilliant playmaker’s absence. Hazard’s injury is terrible timing indeed, but thanks to players like Karim Benzema, who’s been in outstanding form lately, Los Blancos are far from without chance. Can they thrust themselves to a first place with a solid victory in front of their home crowd?
