Our ambassador Tom Boon and the Red Lions win silver medal for Belgium at European Hockey Championship!

When he’s not scoring with his sports betting predictions as ambassador at goldenpalace.be, Tom Boon smashes pucks as striker for the Red Lions, our Belgian national hockey team. After a truly inspiring run in this year’s European Hockey Championship, our Red Lions finished with the silver medal. Of course we’re very proud of their achievement!

In a tournament that was filled with incredible performances, wild emotion, and top class sportsmanship, Belgium pushed through and ended up playing the final against neighbour the Netherlands, tournament organiser and heavy favourite for the title. Following a stunning 5-0 win against the Netherlands earlier in the tournament, spirits were high for the final, with a gold medal and the title of European champions at hockey a credible prospect.

With half of the final played, the Red Lions were leading at a well-gained 2-0 scoreline, after a penalty goal by our own Tom Boon and a well-executed deviation by Cédric Charlier. The last quarters proved to be a nail-biting affair, as the Netherlands, driven by the cheers of the home crowd, slowly managed to regain a grasp on the game. In spite of the best efforts of the Red Lions, the Netherlands went on to win 2-4.

After the memorable silver Olympic medal last year in Brazil, this marks yet another epic achievement by the national hockey team. A silver medal is truly something fought for, something hard-won, something earned through skill, power, perseverance and teamwork. We’ve never been more certain that our Red Lions will achieve more greatness in many tournaments to come. And we’ve never been more proud.

Congratulations, Tom Boon and the Red Lions!
