27.09.2017

On Wednesday at 8.45 p.m. Anderlecht will be looking for the 3 points at home against Celtic, while on Thursday at 7 p.m. Zulte-Waregem travels to face Lazio!

Can Anderlecht secure a crucial victory over the Scottish champions?

Assuming both Paris St-Germain and top seeds Bayern Munich fight it out for Group B's last-16 golden tickets, third spot and the Europa League knock-out football that goes with it could be partly decided on Wednesday. Brendan Rodgers's Celtic side will then travel to Brussels to face Belgian champions Anderlecht on match-day two.

Both sides will be looking to bounce back following opening day defeats. Following just two wins in their opening seven domestic league games, Anderlecht parted company with coach René Weiler. Meanwhile following Saturday's 2-0 Old Firm win at Rangers FC, Celtic are unbeaten in 57 domestic matches. Can Anderlecht take a real stride to post-Christmas European football against the Scottish champions at the Constant Vanden Stock stadium?

Stats:

  • Celtic's record in Belgium is PL 3 W0 D1 L2.
  • Les Mauves were 2-1 victors at Waasland-Beveren on Saturday.
  • Henry Onyekuru has scored in three of Anderlecht's last five matches, four goals in total.

How many goals will we see between Lazio & Zulte-Waregem?

The other Belgian side in European action, Zulte-Waregem, faces a difficult task when they take a trip to Rome to face an in-form Lazio side in Group K of the Europa League. The sides are meeting for the first time and it is Zulte Waregem's maiden encounter with Italian opponents.

On match day 1 Zulte-Waregem was trounced 5-1 at home to Nice, while Lazio recorded a 3-2 victory away to Vitesse. The Belgian side has been on a run in the domestic league however, winning their last three games. In Lazio's last five European home games – four wins followed by a 3-0 loss to Sparta Praha in the 2015/16 round of 16 – there were at least 3 goals by a single team. Could we be in for another goals fest here?

Stats:

  • Zulte Waregem unbeaten in their last four European away games: W3 D1.
  • Zulte Waregem's 5-1 home loss to Nice on match day one was their heaviest home defeat in the UEFA competition.
  • Lazio's last six European home games: W5 L1
