In the FIH Pro League hockey, Belgium won its tickets to the Grand Final with a triumph over New Zealand. Belgian captain Thomas Briels scored twice in the 4-0 win for our hockey heroes in Antwerp. Thanks to this win, Belgium takes the second spot on the FIH Pro League ranking: with 25 points, it finished just one point shy of Australia. In their next match, on Sunday at 1.30 p.m., the reigning world champion faces Argentina, to whom it lost the final in the 2016 Summer Olympics. Can the Belgians exact revenge for the bitter defeat?

French Grand Prix

This Friday sees the start of the 2019 edition of the French Grand Prix. The world’s oldest “grand prix” made its comeback to Formula 1 racing last year, when the F1 federation decided to put the French GP back on the map after an absence of 11 years. Now the prestigious race once again back at the Circuit Paul Ricard for the second time since 1990. After 3 practice runs and a qualifier on Friday and Saturday, it’s time for the main event on Sunday at 3.10 p.m. Last year, the inevitable Lewis Hamilton won the race before Max Verstappen. Who takes the title this year?

Africa Cup of Nations

On Friday, the Africa Cup of Nations kicks off. This biennial continent-wide football tournament decides the greatest football nation of Africa, and this year’s edition is held in Egypt. For a first time, the event is held in the months of June and July instead of January and February, with 24 nations competing instead of the usual 16. With the talents of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, Riyad Mahrez and Kalidou Koulibaly on display, this is sure to become another memorable event! Host nation Egypt is set to kick off the tournament against Zimbabwe on Friday at 10 p.m.
